Sports Medicine
Sports medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions and injuries related to physical activity and movement.
It is intended for anyone who is physically active, from recreational exercisers to experienced athletes, as well as for patients looking to return to activity after an injury or improve their fitness safely.
At MAZ Clinic, sports medicine is part of a modern approach to health. We aim to understand each patient as a whole, identify the root causes of the issue, and provide tailored care that supports lasting recovery and an optimal return to activity.
Our approach
Our approach is based on a thorough, individualised medical assessment, taking into account the patient’s history, activity level and personal goals.
The sports physician provides a clear diagnosis and implements a personalised treatment plan focused on recovery, preventing recurrence and optimising function.
Sports medicine is fully integrated into MAZ Clinic’s multidisciplinary model. Close collaboration with chiropractors, physiotherapists, osteopaths and other specialists enables personalised, consistent, patient-centred care.

Dr Eric Lüdke
SEMS Sports Physician
FMH Orthopaedic Surgeon and Trauma Specialist
After obtaining his Swiss Federal Diploma in Medicine in 2012 from the University of Geneva, Dr Eric Lüdke began specialist training in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology at the Cantonal Hospital of Fribourg, laying the foundations of his career. He then completed his residency in Nyon before taking up a role as Senior Registrar at Neuchâtel Hospital, where he further refined his surgical skills.
Always striving to develop his expertise, he simultaneously pursued training in sports medicine, combining two passions: the management of musculoskeletal conditions and the support of athletes.
Keen to further develop his skills, Dr Lüdke trained at the Centre Ostéoarticulaire des Cèdres in Grenoble, a leading European reference centre, where he specialised in ligament reconstruction and knee replacement surgery. This advanced training enabled him to adopt state-of-the-art surgical techniques, particularly for meniscal injuries, ligament ruptures and degenerative knee conditions.
Dr Lüdke manages the full spectrum of knee conditions, from acute sports-related trauma to degenerative disorders, combining conservative options (rehabilitation, functional treatments) with advanced surgical techniques such as ligament reconstruction and prosthetic implantation.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr Lüdke is involved in elite sport. He serves as physician for the Switzerland national under-16 football team, providing medical support to young athletes during training and international competitions.
His academic and professional background is complemented by several specialist qualifications, including the University of Lausanne certificate “Doping: Sport, Organisations and Sciences” (2019), the FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine (2019), and a qualification in forensic medicine (2020).
Driven by a modern, holistic approach to musculoskeletal health, Dr Lüdke will join MAZ Clinic in early 2026 to provide specialised patient care in close collaboration with MAZ Clinic’s multidisciplinary team.
